1 NEW YORK TURF NOTES E. D. Springer arrived from Toronto with several horses, of which he turned Zonda over to John Zoeller. The Pinetree Stable has turned over to E. D. Springer the two-year-old Newsreel to train. Alec Gordon left for Louisville, Ky., where he will remain for the winter. David Withers has taken over the engagement book of jockey J. Henson for the remainder" of the fall season. Jockeys Mills and Malley leave for Laurel Monday, where they will ride. James Fitzsimmons shipped the main division of his stable to Pimlico. Jockey L. McAtee made his first appearance following a minor operation on his leg. Word was received from Saratoga that three of the yearling barns owned by the Fasig Tipton Co. were destroyed by fire. Jack Dempsey, prize fighter, was among the visitors of the day.
