TEA TAX, away slowly and far back for five-sixteenths, began working his way up thereafter, withstood vigorous pressure and wore down SALUT DAMOUR in the final strides, but pulled up slightly lame. SALUT DAMOUR, hard ridden and away fast, showed speed, drew into command fast in the stretch and held on well. VENETIAN began slowly, improved his position gradually and was closing well. FOXEY BURT showed speed, was forced to lose ground and tired after taking the lead on tho stretch turn. DODIODO had no mishaps. FAIR DELIGHT, shuffled back, could not get up. PASS CHRISTIAN showed speed for half a mile. SPECKLE did not threaten. , . . LE MINISTRE, away slowly, closed fast in the stretch and was fast wearing down the winner. THISTLE TOM showed speed thrdughout and outlasted SIMON. The latter bumped POPO repeatedly. FRANK ORMONT showed speed, but tired after five-eighths. BOLINTY dropped out of it. POPO bumped SIMON repeatedly and loafed in the closing stages. POT AU BROOMS appeared to prop soon after the start. BROWN WISDOM, restrained when setting a comparatively slow early pace, failed to rally when hard urged in the stretch. THISTLE ANN tired. STOP GAP was overmatched.
