LEAROYD, a factor from the start, could not stay with the winner after five-eighths. UNION was hard ridden, but did not threaten the first two. ONE CHANCE, slow to start, closed a gap in the final half mile. CANNONEER raced evenly. RHODIUS was hard ridden until he began to tire entering the stretch. POSTPONEMENT had no excuses. MEETING PLACE, in close quarters on the inside until reaching the far turn, responded willingly to urging, but was no match for the winner. LUCKY RACKET finished gamely from a slow start. GALLANT SIR, close to the leaders, bumped EQUIPOISE when leading into the stretch, took a short lead and hung on gamely. EQUIPOISE, taken to the outside and around the others on the back stretch, was badly bumped by GALLANT SIR on the stretch turn and tired. ST. BRIDEAUX showed good form. OSCULATOR quit after seven-eighths. The others were held safe.
