HEAVY TRACK FOR KENTUCKY . JOCKEY .. CLUB STAKES r- - - -da EIGHT NAMED OVERNIGHT Technique, Breeders Futurity Winner, Only Filly in Field. Mrs. Payne Whitney Relying Upon Dynastic to Duplicate Twenty Grands Feat of 1930. LATONIA, Ky., Oct 28. With the much prized and valuable Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes down for decision, tomorrows racing at Latonia is of such importance as to command the interest of enthusiasts throughout the country. The Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, coming up for the thirteenth time in as many years, will engage some of the leading two-year-olds of the year over the mile distance, the winner, like others successful in the race, will become one of the leading winter choices for the Kentucky Derby and other of the 1933 fixtures for three-year-olds. Eight were named through the entry box this morning and if all start the stake will have a gross value of more than 8,000. The track will be heavy. Three of the eight are stakes winners and they include H. P. Headleys Technique, the lone filly of the field. Mrs. Payne Whitneys Dynastic and C. V. Whitneys The Darb are the other stakes or handicap winners. Dynastic accounted for the Champagne Stakes, finished second in the Tremont Stakes and Hudson Stakes and was third in the Belmont Futurity. The Darb scored in the more recent Richard Johnson Stakes and was second to Technique in the Breeders Futurity here two weeks ago. As invaders. The Darb and Dynastic will be assisted by Caesars Ghost, the Brookmeade Stable candidate, and the three comprise a formidable combination to carry the hopes of the East for its seventh victory since the race was inaugurated at Churchill Downs in 1920. WESTS CHIEF DEPENDENCE. The West, successful last year, when Kakapo scored the second victory for fillies, is placing chief dependence in Technique, and Charley O., owned by R. M. Eastman, and A. B. Gallahers Glynson are the best of the four other western entries. The home forces are rounded out by George Collins Thistle Play and W. F. Axtons Frank Ormont. The colts and geldings carry 122 pounds each and Technique 119 pounds. Mrs. Whitney is the only patron whose colors will show in tomorrows renewal who has won the event. In 1930 her great Twenty Grand won the race by a nose from Equipoise and in worlds record time for two-year-olds for the mile. This was the last running of the race at Louisville. In addition to Twenty Grand and Kakapo, other winners were Desert Light, Clyde Van Dusen, Reigh Count, Valorous, Canter, Mas-teV Charlie, Wise Counsellor, Enchantment, Startle and Tryster. With three of the last five winners successful in the Kentucky Derby, the importance of this event as a Derby "barometer" is reflected. Incidentally, the victors that went on to Derby triumphs took the Churchill Downs classic in decisive fashion. The track will be very trying, but there is every prospect for fine weather for the day and with such important racing one of the largest crowds of the season is expected to attend. Scores of visitors froni points throughout the country are coming on for the day.
