STEPSISTER, outrun for an eighth and taken to the outside of the early leaders, came gamely under pressure and wore down the pacemakers in the final eighth. LADY LEGEND, a factor from the start, shook off THE END, but was unable to withstand the winner. THE END showed early speed, was kept in the softer footing next to the rail in the final eighth and tired. FLUFFY LEE showed good form. EVERFAIR closed fast from a slow start. HIGH MIST tired after racing half a mile. SATIN SHOES tired early. TETRARCHAL, blocked badly when WESTYS FOX crossed in front soon after the start and last away as a result, worked his way into contention on the outside, wore down the pacemaker midway of the stretch and won under hard urging. WESTYS FOX outbroke the others and swerved in front of FAYLIN and TETRARCHAL, sprinted into an easy lead and held on gamely after losing command. RENEWED, close up, finished with a belated rush. BUBOLA, weakly ridden and allowed to drop back leaving the back stretch, came gamely near the end. MAINSHEET closed a gap steadily. FAYLIN tired from his early efforts. GLORIA MARIS raced evenly. MY FERGUS quit. The latter, a slow starter and trailing for seven-eighths, was forced to circle the others and closed fast. SCUTTLE, prominent and saving much ground, held on resolutely. WATCH HIM, forwardly placed, could not improve his position under urging. LATE DATE could not menace the leaders. MOUNTAIN ELK had no excuses. MARTIS quit early. Overweight Swatter, 4 pounds. MICROPHONE, timidly ridden and taken back repeatedly, was kept in the softer footing. CANRON was never dangerous. HAPPY SCOT tired after five-eighths. SWIVEL, avoiding interference and racing forwardly, came resolutely entering the stretch and, wearinf down BALIOS, had enough left to withstand the challenge of GOLDEN WAY. The latter, taken to th outside when midway of the back stretch, entered contention and was gaining steadily near the end. REPAID worked his way into contention between the others and closed fast when saving ground at the end. POMPONIUS moved up resolutely leaving the back stretch, went around the others and closed fast. BALIOS, showing the most early speed, saved ground where possible and held on gamely. SARADA came fast aftei a slow start. TECHNIQUE was forced to lose ground all the way. CATERWAUL was outrun. BARN SWALLOW and TSEULT quit. DYNASTIC showed little. WAVE ON was away poorly and had no chance.
