. I AURORA TURF NOTES 1 ♦— • Jockey Leo "Lightning" Jones, drove in from New Orleans and will be ready to ac-| cept mounts Monday. The veteran saddle star can scale as low as 108 pounds. Al Gaal and L. M. Holmes made up a car which arrived from New Orleans Saturday morning. Holmes had the old campaigner Old Bill, Rocky Way and Noels First, while Gaal brought Song Hit, Cotton Time and Galahad. Al Luzader came in by motor from Lexington and took charge of Princess Peri and Miss Frisky. Luzader has given the Shandon Farm a call on the services of the apprentice Louis Ruder. The youngster gave promise at New Orleans. Before leaving Lexington, Luzader arranged to send six horses to Bainbridge to be rested. Jockey Tommy May, who will do the riding for the E. E. Watson stable, will share the work with apprentice Emil Delmado, who will get assignments when the apprentice allowance is claimed. Starter G. R. "Buddy" Wingfield, put in a busy morning, educating performers in their post manners. There were over sixty horses in attendance. Jockey Melvin Calvert, who ranked among the top notchers of the riding division at New Orleans last winter, is an arrival and will be under colors opening day. Charlie Longo will book Calverts engagements. J. B. "Slim" Stuart, mechanic who looks after the Waite starting device has finished the assemblage of the second unit and has both machines dolled up with new paint, ready for use Monday. The veteran rider Johnny Leyland, who has been on the grounds for the past few days, will be among the performers Monday. Leyland is affiliated with the stable of A. J. Plack. George J. Fenn, local patron, checked in with Alto and Na Zdar. Jake Kellum is an arrival from New Orleans, getting in with the horses of L. M. "Doc" Holmes. Kellum has practically been inactive since his fall last winter, which resulted in serious injuries. J. Salinisky, who raced Inferno Lad, Free Helen and Astute at Lexington, is an arrival from that point and reports the trio had a good trip-. G. R. Yeargin moved over from Hawthorne with Spanflow, Polyp, Niato and Tail Wind. G. R. Allen is directing the training. Johnny Theall sent four head in the same van, they being Morsun, Lady Mary, Riff Raff and Upon. B. H. "Burley" Morton, the colored trainer, registered the five he is training, they being Gold Ridge, Circus Parade, which race for the Berman Brothers; Endress and Shady Rest, which will carry the colors of Mrs. B. Kauffman and Shady Girl which will represent Roberts and Sacks. P. Groos is the latest of the riding brigade to check in.
