BILLY JONES, starting fast, took a clear lead before going a quarter and, steadied along on the turn, held on gamely to withstand TRAITOR. The latter improved his position gradually in the first three eighths, was under restraint on the stretch turn, responded to urging and was wearing down the winner. VOLTA MAID, away very slowly, saved much ground on the turn and closed resolutely on the inside. IKARD began from the outside and tired after five-eighths. PARNELL BOUND saved ground most of the way and tired after half a mile. BACK LOG, fractious at the post and away slowly, failed to reach the leaders. LONWIN bore out badly. The latter, sent up fast in the first quarter and always on the outside, held on gamely. KING FARO closed boldly. CHIEF PILOT had speed, but tired and was crowded back near the end. THOMASVILLE raced wide and closed fast. GUIDE BOOK swerved badly in the stretch. VILLAGE VAMP, under strong restraint for five-eighths, lost ground when moving up on the stretch turn and tired after getting to the winner. NORTH MILL showed speed, but lost much ground and tired in the drive. MIGHTY ATOM tired. DR. FREELAND in hand for five eighths and inclined to bear out on the turn, failed to rally when hard urged int| stretch. GYRO began slowly and was in close quarters in the stretch.
