RACE STREET, on the outside of the leaders until the stretch, closed resolutely when placed to punishment and, wearing down HOOLIGAN, had enough left to withstand DESSNER. The latter, hard ridden and coming through between the leaders in the stretch, was fighting it out gamely at the end. HOOLIGAN displayed early speed, saved ground, then held on well. DOESKIN showed good speed all the way. MIXED PARTY was shuffled back soon after the start, but closed with a rush. OUR DAVID raced well. BORDER KING met interference on the turn. KINGS MINSTREL swerved out on the stretch turn. IMPROMPTU quit badly. ROUND O. showed speed leaving the barrier. CHAIN showed good speed after being rushed into contention. PERIODICAL finished fastest of all after starting slowly. BLUE DARTER raced gamely. FIDDLER had no mishaps. SUSPICIOUS showed early speed. CON AMORE, forcing a fast early pace and forced to race on the outside, took a short lead when racing CHARACTER and MERRILY ON into defeat and, holding on resolutely, just lasted long enough. CANRON, blocked midway of the back stretch, circled the others on the stretch turn and lost much ground and was wearing down the winner. MICROPHONE, in close quarters until reaching the stretch, closed fast. REHOBOTH raced well and finished strongest of all. MERRILY ON was blocked in the final eighth and crowded CHARACTER back in the final drive. FINITE had a lot taken out of him getting to the leaders. KERRY PATCH, unprepared at the start, closed a big gap. GOLD BASIS was away in a tangle. ITOPIAN raced well after starting slowly. THE DARB began fast and had no mishaps.
