I SPORTSMANS PARK NOTES 1 # ♦ Of the forty-eight races contested last week, Diaquri and Pollys Folly were the only double winners. Through the efforts of Dr. J. M. Kaiser, secretary of the Illinois Thoroughbred Horse Owners and Breeders Association, racing secretary R. S. Shelley has carded two events this week for Illinois owners. One will be run Thursday and the other on the following Saturday. Francis Dunn is handling the registration blanks for the Washington Park meeting. The apprentice rider J. Doonis arrived from Lexington and will be seen in action this week. The boy is under contract to C. L Mackey and his book is being handled by Kenneth Mcintosh. He weighs 97 pounds. Jockey H. Morgan, who rode J. C. Ellis Radio Service to victory in the last race Saturday, rode his first winner in three years. The rider has not ridden in a race since 1930 and is attempting a come-back. Odie Clelland, who trains the horse, saddled his first winner for the Evansville promoter. Today will be ladies day and with the payment of 10 cents government tax, the fair sex will be admitted to the grounds. Thursday, also, has been set aside as ladies day. R. J. Spears, president of the Western Canadian Jockey Club, was a visitor at Sportsmans Park Monday. He is here in the interest of racing in the western provinces. Max Murphy, who serves in an official capacity at several of the Chicago tracks, was an arrival from New Orleans. Jockey J. Bardales was suspended for the I remainder of the meeting for unbecoming 1 conduct.
