The Sophie Tucker, Exposition Park Hotel, the North Aurora, the Aurora Hotel, Louis Joliet and Kane County Handicaps are listed as features in this issue. The ,000 Illinois Derby, which will have its first running on Saturday, May 20, and for which nominations close Monday, May 15, is attracting wide attention, according to the many nominations that are coming in by mail. The Jewell Brothers Friend Charley, R. M. Eastman estates Charley O., J. W. Parrishs Isaiah, L. Jones and Sons Fair Rochester, L. M. Seversons Spicson, Three Ds Stables Strideaway and J. E. Hughes Silent Shot are the latest additions to the already imposing list of nominees. The condition books for the impending Bainbridge meeting, which is scheduled to open May 20 for a session of twenty-five or more days, arrived today and were given out to the horsemen. R. T. "Dick" Watts, trainer for Mrs. Emil Denemark, registered the following horses: Miss Marr, Burning Up, Transbird, Pigeon Hole, Water Port, Mother Dear, Ruth Jeli-neck, Truxton, Josephine D., L. E. Komorous, Mamie D., Jascha and Vera D. The latter three are two-year-olds. Apprentice Elmer Wielander, a product of Cicero, 111., is another rider that E. Drillon has under contract. The youngster, who has had over four years experience, has ridden over twenty races, but has never ridden a winner. However, the lad is hopeful of winning his first race during the Aurora meeting. Wielander can ride at ninety-two pounds. Drillon also holds the papers on apprentice Jimmy Lowry. J. S. Carlson applied for stable room for two horses. Ex-jockey George Vuillemot vanned Sid Lea and Lawyer from Sportsmans Park to Aurora Friday. Burley Parke, trainer of the extensive stable of Mrs. A. M. Creech, arrived with fourteen horses from Churchill Downs, which were unloaded at Exposition Park. The string headed by Dr. Freeland consisted of Street Singer, Prose and Poetry, Portcodine, Jolly Pilot, Interpreter, Chief Daunt, Bronx Park, Timorous, Slapped, Adder, Guide Book and Gold Reaper. The latter three are two-year-olds. Apprentice Monte Parke accompanied the shipment and got into riding competition, having two mounts Saturday afternoon. E. C. James, an attorney from Forest, 111., wired racing secretary Richard A. Leigh for reservations for three horses, which he plans to ship to Exposition Park. A. L. Gaal, trainer of Song Hit, Galahad and Cotton Time, was an arrival this morning. The Coffey Brothers, J. and T., came in from Maryland with the veteran performers, Rejuvenation and Searington. Forget Not and Sir Michael, scheduled starters Saturday in the third and fourth races, respectively, were withdrawn on account of being ineligible. Apprentice Leonard Cantrell, who suffered a broken wrist from a fall sustained during the latter part of the Fair Grounds meeting, underwent another X-ray examination and it was found necessary to again place his hand in a cast, due to a small fracture in the thumb bone. C. J. Martin, father of jockey T. P. Martin, moved Nuhat and Gloria Sharpe over from Hawthorne. The star rider accompanied the shipment and will be ready to accept mounts Monday. J. V. Pons received the three-year-old gelding Flying Giblon from Kentucky. Pons is racing Lady Sweet also.
