JAMAICA TURF NOTES ] 3 ยง J. Rigione has taken over several horses to train for Joseph Pepp and Sam R. Micara, newcomers to racing. Terry, Farley, custodian of the jockey room, reports that he has badges for seventy-five riders to distribute. Jimmy "Gallops" Brown, veteran of the turf, is seriously ill at the home of his daughter, on Ocean boulevard, Sheepshead Bay. Brown returned from Pimlico yesterday. Larry Carey of the Havana-American Jockey Club forces was among the arrivals. George Hyland has taken over the engagement books of jockeys Mack Garner, George Rose and James Burke. Marshall Field was a Belmont Park visitor and watched the morning trials of his horses. Eddie Alford arrived from Miami and will remain for the eastern season. Jockey J. McCleary is here with Joe Edwards, who will make his engagements this summer. Kneehigh and McAdam, owned by Jos. Edwards arrived from Havre de Grace. Faireno, winner of the Belmont Stakes, Lawrence Realization and other important fixtures under the silks of the Belair Stud will be shipped to the farm near Bowie, Maryland for a long rest. Trainer Fitzsim-mons announced that fact Saturday morning. Word was received from William Bren-nan, chief trainer of the Greentree Stable, that he would ship to Belmont Park today from the farm, Red Bank, N. J. Brennan had his charges ready for racing when his stable was visited by the coughing epidemic, laying twenty-seven head of horses on the shelf. Stepenfetchit was leased by Mrs. J. H. Whitney from Llangollen Stud and will race in her name and interests. Owners and trainers were notified that entries for the Youthful Stakes and Wood Memorial close on Monday, May 8. m
