EDITH A. GIVEN OAKS TRIAL Only Eligible for Latonia s Saturday Feature in Morning Workout Small But Select Field. LATONIA, Ky., July 26. Edith A., the good daughter of Mount Beacon and For Keeps, which C. E. Hamilton named for Saturdays renewal of the Latonia Oaks, had her final important trial for that mile and a quarter test when she went an easy mile over a good track and around the "dogs" here this morning in 1:45, breezing. Edith A. ran the ten furlongs of the Oaks distance last week and her effort this morning, under the direction of trainer Howard Wells, will, with the exception of an "opener" Friday, complete her preparation for the closing days feature of the Latonia Jockey Club thirty-one day session. Sammy Reick, one of the leading riders at this track and under engagement to the Hamilton Stable, rode the Mount Beacon filly, and she was well in hand as she covered the half mile in :51, and the three-quarters in 1:19. She was the only Oaks eligible to have a trial this morning, Bright Bubble having had her final preparation Tuesday, while Jessie Dear, which started in the Enquirer Handicap last Saturday, will have her final preparation Thursday. At that time Dixianas Esseff, Hal Price Headleys Technique and A. A. Baronis Bamboula, B. B. Jones Bright Shadow and Knights Gal are expected from Chicago and they probably will complete the small but select field that will race for th.2 ,500 added prize.
