Sea Fox which played a prominent part in Florida Maryland and Michigan racing this season scored his most impor ¬ tant triumph of the year when he was a handy winner of the Pingree Handicap which topped a well balanced program of ¬ fered at the Fair Grounds this afternoon afternoonAt At the end of the mile and a sixteenth which was run over a good but soft track in 145 Sea Fox beat A C Schwartz Gay Monarch slightly more than a length Ess eff carried Charles T Fishers Detroit owned Dixiana colors into third place two lengths back of Gay Monarch and a neck before Strideaway StrideawayUnder Under a well judged ride on the part of Tommy Luther Sea Fox took command be ¬ fore reaching the lower turn and after holding Esseff safe in the run to the far turn he repulsed the strong threat of Gay Monarch one of the two threeyearolds to compete for the 2300 prize Although the Schwartz representative offered a strong challenge Sea Fox who was scoring his third consecutive success here and his sixth out of eleven starts this year drew away when Luther urged him entering the stretch With the exception of Red Roamer which held third place for fiveeighths the others failed the second race Mack Winters saved the winner back of the pace of Scin ¬ tilla and Black Song until reaching the stretch but near the final threesixteenths he drove the favorite to the front and she drew away to nearly a threelength advan ¬ tage at the finish From a slow beginning Peedeeque worked his way up gradually to finish the best of the others othersMack Mack Winters rode his second winner when he drove Donna Lascari to victory over seven others in the third race At the end of the threequarters dash for which he was favorite Devilish was second with Fair Duchess third thirdEight Eight threeyearolds started and while the winner was saved back of Devilishs pace Moonsan which was well backed was unprepared at the start and was used up in attempting to wear down the leaders before reaching the stretch In the final quarter Donna Lascari forged to the front and Dev ¬ ilish held on gamely Moonsan tired from his exacting effort Fair Duchess which began slowly closed with a rush to be much the best of the others othersOld Old Field a consistent performer under Mrs E J Chambers colors was a handy winner of the mile and a sixteenth sixth race Dignified which shared favoritism with the victor was second with Cherokee Sal third George Woolf drove the winner to the front before reaching the first turn Although Dig ¬ nified offered a strong bid at the close of fiveeighths the Chambers colorbearer re ¬ sponded to light urging to come to the end a length and a half before Dignified which beat Cherokee Sal by a half length for second
