PROGRAM OF CLAIMING RACES Collinsville Handicap Is Cancelled When Rain Changes Footing Coolest Weather of Past Two Weeks Pre ¬ vails and Big Crowd Attends to Witness Sport COLLINSVILLE 111 June 30 Unable to fill the Collinsville Handicap scheduled fea ¬ ture at Fairmount Park today due to a change in track conditions racing secretary R A Leigh was forced to offer eight races all of which had the claiming clause Rain Friday and early Saturday morning left the track in a holding condition for workouts but a warm sun and stiff breeze dried out the footing rapidly rapidlyFor For the running of the first race the course which was heavy this morning was termed slow but showed improvement after each race The feature number or best race on the card was the fifth over five and a half furlongs which brought together Pat C winner of eight races this year Wise Eddie Altmark and Anne L all of which have won six brackets in 1934 Tombereau Sam Megeath a firsttime starter and Whit harral winner of his last three races made up the remainder of the field fieldThe The weather was the coolest in the past two weeks and one of the largest crowds of the season was out for the halfholiday card An added feature was the playing of the Pavo Rpyale Country Club Orchestra under the direction of Kenneth Albrecht Which held forth in the clubhouse clubhouseSinging Singing River shipped here recently from Riverside Park by Leonard Wilson was overlooked in the betting but won the first race from Bob Up Elegy and seven others over five and a half furlongs P Martinez the clever Mexican rider had the mount on the daughter of Easter Bells and followed Elegy for little over a quarter of a mije while racing in the runnerup position and entering the stretch went to the outside of Elegy racing her into defeat and had enough left to stall off Bob Up which re placed Elegy in the drive driveTwelve Twelve met in the second race at six fur ¬ longs which was for threeyearolds and older and the winner was furnished by Clyde Troutt when his consistent Gurgler made it two straight at the meeting defeat ¬ ing War Dimes by four lengths with Prin ¬ cess Queen a fielder third thirdAfter After many efforts Prince Macaw finally found a field he could defeat when he won the third race in a driving finish from The Egyptian a field horse with Rosy Dreams third thirdThe The winner always in the thick of con ¬ tention followed The Egyptian and Thomas Seth in the opening quarter and coming to the outside entering the stretch passed Thomas Seth and standing a drive gamely caught The Egyptian twenty yards from the finish and won going away Rosy Dreams just got up to get a head verdict for the show award from Mutual Friend FriendDauntless Dauntless Miss which races for Mrs A K Miller and with G Miller up earned her second straight purse and her third of the meeting when she defeated Minnequa Morn ¬ ing Cry and seven other threeyearolds in the fourth race which was decided over six furlongs furlongsThe The winner followed Minnequa easily for a half mile and entering the stretch went to the outside of Minnequa and was drawing away at the finish having an advantage of two lengths
