Won easily; second and third driving. PHARAMAID followed the pace of SUN THORN closely to the stretch, then raced to the front and drew out easily in the run home. SUN THORN went to the front early and set a good pace to the stretch, then saved all possible ground, but could not last. FRANK D. raced fairly well. VAGABOND tired in the run home and stumbled nearing the end. ONO was in close quarters on the back stretch. CHOSEN PAL was taken up by his timid rider at the start and trailed throughout. NIGHT FLASH, always well up, was taken to the outside after being in rather close quarters on the stretch turn and wore down CLATSOP CHIEF to get to the front near the end. CLATSOP CHIEF displayed good arly speed and held on fairly well. BARBADOES closed much ground in the last quarter. BABY BANE was well up throughout. JUDGE BUD tired in the stretch. MORALE moved up strongly on the outside around the far turn and, catching MUCKERafter being straightened for home, drew away from the latter near the end. MUCKER took a good lead after leaving the back stretch, but tired in the last sixteenth and stumbled nearing the finish. RUFLE raced to the front early to open up a good lead, stumbled on the far turn and dropped back, but came again in the stretch and showed a good effort. MOPECO, after being far back for the first half mile, moved up strongly approaching the stretch turn to wear down OLD TUCK in the run home and won under urging. OLD TUCK raced very wide around the stretch turn, but headed BLACK SIGNAL on the back stretch and raced gamely to the finish. NORTHCUTT, fractious at the post, was started from outside the gate and performed fairly well. EIGHTH POLE was badly outrun to the stretch, then closed some ground. BLACK SIGNAL tired badly. STRAIT JACKET went to the front at once, held a short lead over CAMPILLO to the stretch and, racing, gamely to the finish, had enough left to hold EASTER TOMMY safe. The latter raced close up from the start and finished gamely on the outside of the winner. CAMPILLO had speed and, though making a bobble on the far turn, raced well to the finish. CHIEF ALMGREN closed ground. JAZZ BAND was close up in the early stages, but sulked in the stretch run.
