C V Whitneys Promising Juvenile Comes Back to Win Feature sily Beets Maxine F and Clocks Bit of ofSorrow Sorrow Jshes Graded Handicap HandicapEvent Event at Aqueduct NEW YORK N Y June 12 Triumph ¬ ant the good juvenile son of Dis Done and Vhais that races for C V Whitney which met with so much misfortune in the run ¬ ning of the National Stallion Stakes at Bel ¬ mont Park came back today to win the best offering at Aqueduct when he was an easy winner of the Inwood Purse In this race he was also a bit unfortunate and after running into no end of trouble Workman finally found racing room for him and he came away to win in hand The Inwood was an overnight purse that engaged half a dozen rather smart twoyearolds and Mrs W A Bridges Maine F raced to second place beating Clocks from the Brookmeade Stable for that part of the purse purseIt It was a day of sport largely given over to juveniles and was served up to a crowd of goodly proportions Three of the six races were for the juveniles and with a steeplechase for cheap platers there were only tvo events run around the turns of the main course courseIn In the Inwood Triumphant was a bit slow leaving the stalls and as Workman at ¬ tempted to send him to the front he was badly blocked as Wha Hae dashed along in front A second effort to come through had no better success and it was not until well around the turn of the course that Work ¬ man took him to the outside and he found room to fully extend himself himselfWhen When there was room the son of Dis Done came along gallantly and at the finish Workman had him in hand to win by a length and a half Wha Hae had tired badly from his pacemaking and Maxine F fin ¬ ished going well to save the place by a length and Clocks also ran down the Zeigler colt to beat him a head for third thirdIt It is possible that an affliction of Triumph ¬ ant may have something to do with his mis ¬ fortunes in racing He races with a cup blinker over one of his eyes and that gives him only one with which to find his way wayEdward Edward R Bradleys Bit of Sorrow was winner of the Rosedale Handicap fashioned for those of Class C but at the end she had to be driven out smartly to beat Alvin Un termyers Gold Foam which was bearing out badly under the final pressure Far back of the pair Maddest from the Wheatley Sta ¬ ble took third from Old Story and Rough Diamond which appeared to have a reason ¬ able chance ran one of his sulky races to be last of the sixth that performed performedFrom From a good start Coucci sent Gold Foam to the lead and when he was clear of the field he took hold of the son of Golden Broom and rated him along at a pace that held command Old Story followed him and back of these Meade was sending Bit of Sorrow along on the rcil well within strik ¬ ing distance After being off cheerfully Rough Diamond almost at once pinned his ears and he dropped back until he was a bad last of the six sixWhen When the stretch was reached Old Story was about through but there Meade saved ground on the rail with Bit of Sorrow and he began to close resolutely on the leader Coucci by an energetic drive held to the lead until the last seventy yards but there Gold Foam began to bear out badly and Bit of Sorrow running straight and true was over the line the winner by a length Gold Foam was four lengths before Mad ¬ dest which had no trouble disposing of the tired Old Story and then followed Crete and Rough Diamond DiamondCarl Carl H Palmers Dame Quickly a daugh ¬ ter of Haphazard and Mary Best was win ¬ ner of the opening fivefurlong dash that engaged a dozen maiden juvenile fillies of the cheaper quality She had something to spare over Miss Marie Krugs Nalita J and Jack Howards Little Nymph saved third from Ulalume one that had some misfor ¬ tune in the running runningDame Dame Quickly left her stalls running and she had speed enough to cross to the rail where she saved ground all the way to be winner by two lengths Nalita J was always in the front division and she was a length before Little Nymph which fin ¬ ished with good courage while Love Lyric after racing forwardly stopped rather badly Ulalume was bumped by Love Lyric round ¬ ing the turn of the course and but for that interference she would probably have ecrred a share in the purse purseThe The steeplechase of the day was over the short course and for cheap ones It brought victory to M B Metcalfs The Graf which carried all the pace to lead home H E Talbot Jrs Pavilion Royal and J T Skin ¬ ners Five OClock favorite in the field easily took third from Matagain MatagainAs As the race was run Five OClock seemed best but he was miserably ridden by I Wren who lost a stirrup iron at the water and while the old son of Sir Martin was messed about badly at all stages of the gal ¬ lop right to the last fence Wren seemed to have difficulty in keeping his seat at the jumps and he was a real hindrance to his mount mountPenrod Penrod who had the mount on the win ¬ ner at once went into a lead of three lengths where he rated his mount along and saved ground all the way Matagain was second for the first half mile but it was because Pavilion Royal was under dou ¬ ble wraps back of him When Christian called on the Talbot jumper he moved up strongly and he offered the contention though not able to run down The Graf GrafOn On his own courage Five OClock came into the contention in the front field but at the last fence where he was wearing down the two that had him headed Wren again was almost unseated and his chance was gone The Graf was still two lengths to the good at the line and Pavilion Royal had beaten Five OClock three parts of a length for the place Matagain was an ¬ other ten lengths back and the H C Fair pair Swamp Fox and Jaunty were always badly outrun outrunThe The second five furlongs for maiden juve ¬ nile fillies a split of the first race was run as the third and went to Lee Rosenbergs Polly Barcarol when she led home Victor Emanuels Free Again after a stirring duel and Mrs Anna L Bradys Lady Sage just saved third from Muriellynn MuriellynnThis This race was marred by a bad start in which Muriellynn Speech and Wizardess had scant chance they were off so badly Coucci sent Mersan from the stalls in the lead but she did not have the speed to hold her advantage and after being bumped rather badly at the turn of the course she dropped out of contention contentionPolly Polly Barcarol and Free Again were in the front division and after rounding the turn they hooked up in a duel but the Sun Pal filly proved the gamer to win go ¬ ing away by a length Lady Sage closed with determination to take third in the last stride and Muriellynn after her slow beginning ran a winning race raceRiot Riot calls were answered after the official placing of the final race of the day when the placing judges gave the major award to Mrs F Ambrose Clarks Cristate while in second place was Jim John and Golden Dream was a tired third The winner was restrained in the early running but re ¬ sponded to pressure in the final furlong but driving hard appeared to have missed by a head in overhauling Jim John in the final drive Uniformed police officers were rushed to the finish line and after a display of antagonism several patrons were ejected
