ton a frail young man from Limon Colo entered turfdoms hall of fame with a pro ¬ verbial bang at Washington Park here today Aspiring to a career as a jockey young Helton who had ridden in but few races had the mount on C E Davisons Prin temps in the third race The Davison mare racing with ten others of the cheaper plater class was almost entirely overlooked in the betting but the fact that she prevailed at odds of slightly better than 249 to 1 did not discourage Helton in his quest of a first vic ¬ tory and riding a strong and welljudged race he brought her through to victory in one of the hottest contests of the day dayHer Her triumph created great excitement and furnished several mutuel payoff records as the return of 50024 for each 2 straight was a record for parimutuels in this state She paid 10788 for place and 5710 was the return on each 2 show ticket ticketCoupled Coupled in the Daily Double with Fire Advance winner of the second race Prin temps returned 136510 to holders of the seven combination tickets sold on the pair Only 41 in straight bets were placed on Heltons mount The total in place bets was 1 less while 63 worth of show tickets were sold soldThe The straight
