THREE OF PAIRBYPAIRS GET ELIGIBLE TO JOLIET STAKES STAKESPairzetta Pairzetta Paircats and Paiturf Among Candidates for Race RaceCRETE CRETE 111 May 28 Charles Clinton Van Meters feat in winning almost 25000 with a twoyearold son of Pairbypair named Blue Pair during the 1940 campaign has evidently inspired others to give the sons and daughters of that sire a chance because there are no less than three listed among the nominees for the 5000 added Joliet Stakes which will be run as the feature of the Saturday program at Lincoln Fields FieldsAll All three are in the barn of Kenneth Murchison and one graduated from the maiden ranks in the second start of his career last Monday He is Pairzetta a son of Sarazens halfbrother and Mazetta who was bred by C Andrade III In addi ¬ tion he has another bay colt named Pair cats by the same sire but out of the dam Francaise also a chestnut filly by Pairby ¬ pair named Paiturf who is out of the dam Turf Queen QueenBEAT BEAT PAIR OF NOMINEES While there was nothing sensational about Pairzettas graduation he was beating a field of juveniles in which the second and third horses Vasen Laurys Helen Agnes and French Lick Springs Stables Briar Rose were also eligible for Saturdays fea ¬ ture tureBlue Blue Pair was a winner of six straight races in New England last summer includ ¬ ing the Miles Standish and Mayflower Stakes two of the most important twoyear old events in the Down East sector sectorFollowing Following his showing in those events against pretty good twoyearolds Van Meter shipped the colt home to Kentucky with the Breeders Futurity at Keeneland as his ob ¬ jective and the son of Pairbypair and Eva B finished second to Whirlaway in that event This spring he was sold to Mrs Vera S Bragg while propping for the Derby for a reported 35000 At the present time he is at Washington Park preparing for his other threeyearbid engagements under trainer Willie Crump
