associates with Burnett an ¬ nouncing this morning that plans have been worked out to take care of the largest open ¬ ingday crowd in the history of the spacious ipcal plant The greatest throng to witness racing at Fairmount Park was on Labor Day three years ago and Burnett having in mind the success of other meetings this year hopes to see more than the 25000 fans which packed the Madison County track on Labor Day of 1938 1938With With many government projects in full force in this vicinity especially St Louis and other factories turning out defense or ¬ ders Burnett is confident the spring meeting here will be the best since he and his asso ¬ ciates took over the track in 1937 1937Racing Racing secretary R A Leigh Jr is ar ¬ ranging a fine eightrace program for the opening day which will be headed by the Memorial Day Handicap a sixfurlong sprint for threeyearolds and upward for a purse of 1200 Among some of the horses ex ¬ pected to accept the weights which will be announced Thursday morning are Keefe Kings Swift Light C W PershalPs Royal Blue Three Bangs from the stable of Fred Seroy the Le Mar Stock Farm stables entry of Matchup and Midair A H Sumerlins Future Winning F Campagnas Doublrab and Miss M Hodges Half Time Others ex ¬ pected to accept their engagement are the Chileanbred mare Juanita who will flaunt the silks of her Cuban owners Carlos de la Cerda and Antonio Ruiz J B Woods Hom bre Mio I Karas Ottoman F E Waldrons Lazarus The Nizam from the stable of R Basnett and Bid Up from the Ed Rachal barn barnPROBABLE PROBABLE CHOICE FOB FEATURE FEATURESwift Swift Lifeht probable favorite for the Memorial will be making her initial ap ¬ pearance before local fans and according to her partowner and trainer M C Keefe the filly has fully recovered from illness en ¬ countered during the Oaklawn Park meeting which kept her out of competition dur ¬ ing the Churchill Downs session Expected to give the Keefe King representative much competition is Royal Blue who was shipped here several days ago from Chicago to sport the Pershall silks in the race Dou ¬ blrab on the strength of his recent races at Sportsmans Park will command atten ¬ tion while the Le Mar horses have always been popular at Fairmount Park Other lo ¬ cal favorites are Three Bangs Half Time The Nizam Lazarus and Future Winning The latter won the first race of his career here last spring and showed improved form in his races thereafter Three Bangs Half Time Lazarus and The Nizam were win ¬ ners here last year and they are expected to have their usual strong following during the coming session Much has been written about Juanita and her Oriental Park form indicates she must be considered a strong contender for the openingday headliner headlinerOfficials Officials to cover the meeting have not been announced by Burnett but he hopes to get approval from the Illinois racing com ¬ mission no later than tomorrow on the list of key nicn he requested that
