JOHNNIE J IS SUCCESSFUL FIRST OUT FOR NEW OWNER OWNERDonna Donna Leona and Boy Angler Trail Nelson Colorbearer at Suffolk SuffolkBOSTON BOSTON Mass June 18 Claimed from his most recent outing for 4500 by C E Nelson Johnnie J triumphed at the first asking for his new owner in winning the Allston Purse a condition offering at six furlongs that served as the main event on todays program at Suffolk Downs The Allston had its decision at threequarters and carried a purse of 1500 Donna Leona from the Mrs T Christopher string came from quite a distance back to be second beaten by the matter of a short neck Boy Angler racing for Mr French was trav ¬ eling the fastest of all at the end as he sped along on the outside to take third place placeFavorites Favorites were in the eclipse during the afternoon not one choice being successful during the first six racesT racesTIn In the Allston Wise Niece on the strength of two good winning performances was in ¬ stalled the choice and seemed a logical fa ¬ vorite under her impost of 101 pounds which included two pounds overweight over her carded 99pound burden burdenThe The Wise Counsellor filly did not move away from the starting machine as alertly as usual During the opening threesix ¬ teenths mile Johnnie J and Ramases showed the way Wise Niece soon moved through on the inside to gain the lead and sped into a daylight advantage as the first quartermile was complete Johnnie J and Ramases raced heads apart as they chased along in nearest chase of the leader After half the trip had been covered Johnnie J began moving away from Ramases and be ¬ gan cutting down the leaders advantage Donna Leona was still well back but began giving improved speed as she began moving up upInto Into the stretch it was still Wise Niece However the Nelson gelding overtook the pacemaker to show in front at the furlong pole Donna Leona was right in the thick of the contention and Boy Angler showed in advance of but one of the field During the drive to the finish Johnnie J held to his slight lead in tenacious fashion fashionAck Ack Ack from the string of Marshall Field turned in one of his best races to account for the five furlongs of the Cape May Purse The Jacopo colt scored by a convincing margin over the oddson choice J H Louchheims Chop Sticks Manhasset Stables Second Thought took the show award
