Hasty Message Is Carried Wide So Ring Master Garners Honors Frances Ws Antics Cost Choice Victory Millpomp Returns to Winning Ways WaysCICERO CICERO 111 May 6 The stage ap ¬ peared set for Hasty Messages debut as a winner in the third race at Sportsmans Park today but a villain in the horse flesh of Frances W prevented the homebred daughter of Garden Message and Hasty Glance from taking the bows This sprightly representative of Mrs A M Creech under whose colors her sire and dam won many races was the favorite in the wagering and leading the field of ten maiden juveniles when Frances W who was next to the rail ran out at the stretch bend and thus enabled King Ranchs Ring Master a Texasbred son of Equestrian and Prominent to move into the lead and reach the end of the four and onehalf furlongs three lengths before the favorite Frances W came on to garner third honors two lengths farther back and five lengths before Annanbob who got up to head Isaqueen also a victim in the mishap for fourth laurels laurelsHasty Hasty Glance Isaqueen the early pace ¬ maker and Frances W were racing in close order when the latter became unruly and probably except the winner who was gaining ground they were much the best of the others Ring Master had the serv ¬ ices of Paul Glidewell and a 2 investment on the Texasbred was worth 2620 Bag nell for whom there was good support fell while in the gate and appeared to have injured apprentice L Wegrzyn but the latter remounted However his mount failed to threaten threatenMillpomp Millpomp Graduates GraduatesMillpomp Millpomp sixyearold maiden son of Pompey and Blind Lane who recently re ¬ turned to competition after a threeyear absence scored his initial triumph in driv ¬ ing to a wellearned victory over Canfield Estrellita and five others in the fivefur ¬ long second race Gayle F and Canfield dominated the pace for a half mile with Charley Parke sending the winner who rep ¬ resented Mrs Robert McGarvey forward on the outside to reach the lead when in ¬ side the final sixteenth Alley the fa ¬ vorite finished fourth and Gabe was pulled up when he bled bledSaving Saving ground throughout and ridden by E Sylvia Rose Bane an Illinoisbred daughter of Braedalbane and Tocaya was a driving and surprise winner of the open ¬ ing event Hillfilly always the best of the others was second and Rangle lasted to beat James Quest a head for third Float Away again was the favorite but the old gelding raced well back backParke Parke was astride his second winner when Glen Wilsons Pops Rival was a front running victor of the fourth race Real Man drove through on the inside to take second from the tiring Dusky Duke and Black Mark was fourth fourthKings Kings Glory who graduated from the maiden ranks during the current meeting carried Larry Barney to his first victory in three days by accounting for the fifth event Second choice in the wagering and flaunting the banner of Mrs S Leroy King the threeyearold daughter of Double Heart held sway throughout the six and onehalf furlongs Dairyman an outsider in the wagering was second and Fortress the favorite third
