Attempt to Be Made to Revive Racing at Charleston S C CPIMLICO PIMLICO Md May 6 The purchase of Hand Me Down by Joseph Hiott increased to five the number of horses he now owns They will be campaigned at a new half mile track near Charleston S C where an attempt to revive racing is expected to be made this summer Hand Me Down was obtained from L M Hanson at private terms termsIncidentally Incidentally Hiott is the guiding force behind the halfmile venture The track is situated within streetcar distance of the metropolitan area It has a fivefurlong chute and is 55 feet wide The meeting is scheduled to start June 5 with racing to be staged Saturdays only and it is the inten ¬ tion to continue for the duration if possible Purses will range from 100 to 150 The program will comprise six races Quarter mile and threefurlong dashes as well as distance races at mile and upward will j be carded Besides events strictly lor thor ¬ oughbreds there also will be races for cold ¬ blooded horses
