Meadows May Dispose of War Relief Funds as It Sees Fit FitSAN SAN MATEO Calif May 6 A point regarding the money for war relief ac ¬ cumulated during the fall meeting at Bay Meadows has been cleared by Attorney General Robert Kenny of California He has ruled that as far as this state is con cerned the money can be legally turned over to any war relief agencies designated by the California Jockey Club The permit for the fall meeting was granted by the California Horse Racing Board on condi ¬ tion that the track earmark the greatest portion of the profits for relief The amount accumulated for that purpose was almost 200000 200000This This money has been held in escrow since the meeting awaiting the decision of Kenny as to the legality of the action of the Horse Racing Board in granting a per ¬ mit under such conditions Kennys ruling pertains to the fall meeting only It has nothing to do with the meetings now in progress or any to come Each track in California is entitled to race five extra days for charity However the late 1942 meeting was the only one at which the permit was granted on condition that a greater part of the profits of every day exclusive of the extra charity days be turned over to war relief
