Whitney Resigns Post On N Y Commission CommissionNEW NEW YORK N Y May 25 Lt Col John Hay Jock Whitney who is assigned to London has tendered Gov Thomas E Dewey his resigna ¬ tion from the New York State Racing Commission it was an ¬ nounced today by Herbert Bayard Swope chairman of the commission The states chief executive has not yet accepted the resignation which is a formality in proceedings before he would appoint a successor to Whitney That international sports mans term of the states turf gov ¬ erning body was to extend to May 1 1944 Whitney and Swope were ap ¬ pointed to the commission in 1934 along with John Sloanwho since has been succeeded by Ashley T Cole
