Suffolk to Raise Purses For Better Type Horses HorsesThird Third Book of Conditions Reveals Increase in Many Overnight Races RacesBOSTON BOSTON Mass May 31 Horsemen who provide the show will share further in the emphatic success of the current meeting at Suffolk Downs scheduled through July 17 Purse money already considerably boosted since the release of the first condition book will be further raised upon the distribution of racing sec ¬ retary Charles McLennans third book cov ¬ ering the racing of June 2 June 12 12Although Although a 1000 minimum purse re ¬ mains in force these apply to only the cheapest sprinters racing under a 1000 claiming tag and to the lesser priced two yearolds All others in local training will now vie for overnight purses ranging from 1100 to 2000 2000Route Route runners at 1500 raced in the first condition book for 1000 The present purse value for such horses is 1300 and will be tilted to 1400 Sprinters worth 2000 2500 will likewise race for a 1400 purse every additional upward grading to a 4000 claiming tag produc ¬ tive of a 100 purse raise for each class of company companyIn In a further effort to attract better horses to the post condition races are to be raised to 1800 another 300 boost with allowances and handicaps valued at 1800 in the present condition book upped to 2000 The entire handicap lineup re ¬ mains as scheduled ranging from 5000 to the important 50000 Massachusetts Handicap which will have its 1943 renewal on July 5
