State and Pascoag Officials Agree on Tracks Future Plans PlansPROVIDENCE PROVIDENCE R I May 31 Pascoag Park scheduled to open a 32day race meeting today did not open as was ex ¬ pected since the recent ban on pleasure driving was invoked but State Racing Ad ¬ ministrator William A Shawcross an ¬ nounced this morning that the state and the track management are in accord on future plans for the halfmile race plant plantI I have received a lettter from the Pas ¬ coag management formally announcing that all action relative to racing there now has been delayed Shawcross said this morning This letter follows a conference the racing administration had with Pas ¬ coag officials They realize of course that they could not expect to operate in the face of a pleasure driving ban situated as the track is And the state of course does not want to be placed in the position of encouraging driving violations by having the track operated now nowThe The dates granted to Pascoag from to ¬ day through July 5 still stand The license will remain effective and if the driving situation changes at any time we will then take up the possibility of the track opening
