to Occupation hung up his second victory in as many Itarts when he won the Northside Purse which featured todays racing at Hawthorne The young son of Bull Dog and Miss Bunting developed by Burley Parke and ridden by Lyle Whiting who was handling his third winner of the afternoon ran the fiveeighths of a mile in 49 and won by eight lengths with seven other twoyearolds following in his wake wakeWhile While Occupy a 3to10 chance with the large crowd Was winning as he pleased a lively battle ensued for the lesser portions of the purse Hasty Message took the place by a head while Leavenworth was only a nose in front of Valdina Andire in taking third money Also lapped on this group was Pukka Gin who ran fifth fifthContinues Continues to Draw Out OutOccupy Occupy didnt break in front and Whit ¬ ing had to handle him vigorously to gefe him to the lead in the first quarter He also had to keep after him all around the turn to protect his advantage but then the Marsch colt who may be a youngster of real quality asserted his superiority by drawing out He was five lengths in front with a furlong to go and was still draw ¬ ing away at the end endIn In taking second money Hasty Message came from a long way back while Leaven worth was among the leaders from the beginning The latter swerved into Pukka Gin repeatedly in the drive or else both of them might have been a little closer though it is hardly likely they would have menaced the winner HyCap essayed to race with Occupy to the nead of the stretch but then faded away and finished far back backNext Next Start at Washington Park Occupy is through racing now for the remainder of the Lincoln Fields meeting and will make his next start at Washing ¬ ton Park where later he may be seen try ¬ ing for victory in such owned by Neal Rasmussen of California registered his second straight victory in getting a nose decision at the end of the six furlongs of the first race When NaniLeonai took the lead from the tiring Crumpet in the home stretch it appeared she might win the race but Discussion ridden by Frank Zehr nailed her in the last stride Dream Fox was a bangup third just a neck off the leaders and a length and a half before Crumpet who saved the fourth award awardThe The second race was a fivefurlong dash for maiden twoyearolds and the winner in onesided fashion was Valdina Farms Valdina Date Lyle Whiting sent this young son of Osculator to the front soon after the start and kept him there through ¬ out winning by five lengths The battle for the lesser portion of the purse was much closer with Long Ago Sundrum My Empire Dawn and Little Steve finishing lapped on each other and in that order behind the winner winnerCharter Charter Member Earns Purse PurseWhiting Whiting rode his second winner in guid ¬ ing Mrs Victor Sovinskis Charter Member home in front of five other sprinters over the six furlongs of the third race Among those behind the Sovinski colt was Lucky Deal who beat Charter Member on the oc ¬ casion of their last meeting In todays race Charter Member followed Lucky Deals pace to the stretch turn and then raced past him to win eventually by a length and a half Lucky Deal finished out of the money with second honors going to Hopeful Reward and third to Bonamo Ebony Edge was fourth and then came Lucky Deal to beat the other starter Big Boy BoyAnother Another nose finish developed at the end of the six and a half furlongs of the fourth race in which Displayer barely beat Cousin Nan Displayer owned by Ruth Sidell and ridden by Anthony Skoronski swept to the front approaching the last eighth and after losing the lead momen ¬ tarily to Cousin Nan near the end came on again to get the decision in the last stride Though unable to beat the winner Cousin Nan was much the best of the others finishing seven lengths in advance of the third horse Gem W The latter and Dis ¬ tant Isle shared pacemaking honors but both gave way in the drive Distant Isle winding up in last place
