Aletern Seeks Added Laurels Saturday Lincoln Handicap To Lure Ernst Ace AcePeabodyLa PeabodyLa Salle Winner In Best Form of Career To Face Old Rivals Again AgainSTICKNEY STICKNEY 111 June 14 A C Ernsts Aletern who has made a runaway of two Lincoln Fields stakes is going to bid for another this Saturday for he heads a list of 11 eligibles for the 5000 Lincoln Hand ¬ icap a run of a mile and a quarter that highlights the final program of the meet ¬ ing at Hawthorne Aletern a homebred fouryearold by Eternal and Xanthina won the Francis S Peabody Memorial Handicap at a mile and a sixteenth by five lengths and last Saturday once more made a show of the local handicap divi ¬ sion by taking the LaSalle Handicap at a mile and threesixteenths by six lengths lengthsAletern Aletern who earlier in the spring won Keenelands Ben Ali Handicap came from last place to score last Saturdays one ¬ sided triumph and in his present form it appears he has the Lincoln Handicap at his mercy The only LaSalle Handicap eligible the Ernst colt has not yet beaten this season is Valdina Farms Rounders and it is not certain that this Irish horse will be a starter this weekend If the Valdina Farm is represented in the final feature it probably will be Valdina Orphan and Aletern easily beat this colt last Sat ¬ urday Jt was the second time this year that Aletern has defeated Valdina Orphan for he also accomplished the feat in the Ben Ali Handicap HandicapWas Was in Receipt of Five Pounds PoundsIn In the LaSalle Valdina Orphan gave Aletern five pounds the best of the weights 121 to 116 and in the light of the Ernst representatives convincing victory it is reasonable to suppose that racing secre ¬ tary W H Shelley will make some adjust ¬ ment in their veights for the Lincoln In that case fans may expect a closer battle for top honors than last Saturdays race developed developedAlso Also expected to make another try for a stake victory here is Mrs Marie Evans Shot Put who ran third in the LaSalle He was five lengths behind Valdina Or ¬ phan at the wire in last weeks stake and a length and a half before Galbreath Diensts Best Seller who though eligible may pass up the Lincoln because of its distance Best Seller did not appear fa ¬ vorably disposed toward the distance of the LaSalle Handicap and is hardly likely to fancy the greater route of the Lincoln any better betterNot Not many are likely to tackle Aletern in his present form though owners and trainers of eligibles for the Lincoln are withholding decisions in connection with the closing feature pending a study of the weights which are due momentarily momentarilyIf If Aletern wins the Lincoln Handicap the Ernst stable will have accounted for four of the six stakes run during the Lin ¬ coln Fields meeting for Aleterns stable mate Alorter was the hero of the Joliet Stakes
