Lt. W. L Jones, Jr., Refuses 5,000 Offer for Cash Book LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 5.— Lieut. Warner ■ L. Jones, Jr., breeder of the Arkansas 5 Derby winner, Challenge Me, has refused 1 5,000 for Cash Bood, dam of the winner ■ of Oaklawn Parks richest event, and now I one of the more formidable candidates for t the seventieth Kentucky Derby. The offer f was disclosed by Lieut. Jones while at his Jefferson County farm on week-end leave i yesterday. "I am not parting with the i daughter of Bull Dog," said the young I breeder, "for with such foals as Challenge B Me, Put In and other good runners, she is 3 one of the best mares in the country." Two younger colts from Cash Book are at the Jones farm. They are a yearling by 1 Menow and a suckling by Hairan. The mare has been bred to Stimulus. She cost Jones ,500. For Challenge Me he received i ,500, while Put In brought ,000 and 1 Maepeace, another of her get, ,100.
