In the early days of racing outlined by Keeneland, 8 per cent of the races will be for members of the feminine sex exclusively. The filly races include the ,000 added Ashland Stakes, which is one of five added money races appearing regularly on Keeneland s spring programs. The Ashland is for three-year-old fillies at six furlongs. It is one of the oldest stakes races in Kentucky and the 1944 renewal will be run 0n Wednes- day, April 19. Other stakes races carded include the Phoenix Handicap, ,000 added for three -year-olds and upward, which will be the highlight of the opening day, April 15: the Ben Ali Handicap, ,000 added, for three-year-olds and upward, on Saturday, April 22; the Lafayette Stakes, ,000 added, for two-year-olds, on Tuesday, April 25, and the 0,000 added Blue Grass Stakes, one and one-eighth miles, for three-year-olds, on Wednesday, April 26. i i
