Keeneland Plans Record Disbursement Of 18,800 for Spring Meet at Downs I i t Daily Average of 1,880; Only Thirty-Two of Eighty Races Carded for Platers LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 5.— Keeneland Race Course, Inc., which will conduct its spring meeting at Churchill Downs, has scheduled a purse distribution of 18,800 for the 10 days of racing for a new high in the history of the non-profit track. The final three days of the meeting. April 24 to 26, inclusive, will be conducted as part 5 of a six-day charity session run jointly by Keeneland and Churchill Downs. ] The daily average distribution, according to the conditions as drawn up by racing e secretary Fred Burton, will be 1,880 and e the average disbursement per race ,485. The minimum purse offering will be ,000, • which will be the value of all claiming J races. 1 Most money during the Keeneland season will go to the better class horses, as, of the 80 races programmed, only 32 or 40 1 per cent will be claiming events and 28 1 percent of the total money will be distrib- • uted through the claiming races.
