Y., April 26.— Long-champs Farms Leslie Grey just got up in the final stride to whip Louisiana Farms Pamela C. in the Rosedale Stakes at Jamaica today, capturing the first stake for juveniles of the New York season by a head. The favorite, Bertie S., carried Isa-dore Biebers colors into third place, only another head farther back in one of the most exciting races of the current meeting. Greentree Stables Expression was a length and one -half farther back in the field of 10 juvenile fillies. The daughter of Isolater — Theme Song stepped the five furlongs in 1:01 over a drying-out track and paid .10. A sunny afternoon lured a crowd of 24.-680 to the cozy Metropolitan Jfcckey Club oval and wagering continued at a very brisk pace. Pamela C. was first out of the gate in: the Rosedale and led to the last jump, sav- ; ing ground on the turn, while Leslie Greyj was forced to take back at the head of the i stretch after being in closest pursuit of the [ pace. Bertie S. also had a rather rough trip. This trio charged down the stretch! with Pamela C. running straight and true on the inside, Bertie S. in the middle of. the track and Leslie Grey drifting out. but driving on courageously under a powerful drive by Steve Brooks. Wheatley Stables Stronghold, who beat! Pukka Gin a narrow margin in a division of the Experimental, came back to beat Donna-Ray Stables Texas Sandman a nose in the ,000 Tryster Purse at a mile and a sixteenth that followed the Rosedale.
