Adams Flying Bridge moved up into stiffer competitive circles in engaging five other two-year-olds, including the disappointing odds-on favorite. Timeless, in the ,000 added Aberdeen Stakes at Pirn- j lico today and, evidently, was quite equal to the occasion. The successful Infinite offspring came from off the pace to sweep through the stretch to a half-length ac-j counting of this four and one-half furlong Offering which he covered in : 55 over a I I I fast track. For his surprise accomplish-1 I ment he earned ,350 and brought about I an 1.40 mutuel pay-off. Second place went to F. W, Hoopers Hoop Jr., five lengths before the faltering j j Timeless, from the stable of Mrs. Colin 1 MacLeod. The only excuse for the choice, j and a rather poor one. was that he stepped ; j in a small hole inside the final three-sixteenths of a mile, stumbled and thereby J lost the advantage. However, at the time he was giving ground and it is doubtful I j whether the incident was sufficiently grave j to be the difference between victory and ! defeat. A crowd of 12,000 turned out for the . program, highlighted by the thirty-first j running of this important juvenile joust. I The youngsters were not long at the gate j and with the break Timeless essayed to j quickly outsprint his rivals, but the best the choice could do was to keep his head before Hoop Jr. Approaching the stretch he began faltering and Hoop Jr. took over. During all this. Flying Bridge, under expert handling by Glenn Smith, had gradually reached a prominent position. At the turn for home that colt had dead aim, and at the furlong marker he literally swamped Hoop Jr. as well as Timeless, and went on to register his first stake triumph. Incidentally, George Alexandra, who trains the horses of Mrs. Adams, ha3 yet to have one of his starting two-year-olds beaten. The manner in which Flying Bridge came forward to accomplish a ; hard-earned triumph augurs well for the chestnuts career.
