Centennial Ceremonies On Homewood Inaugural InauguralRaising Raising of Illinois State Flag To Precede Running of First Race RaceDedication Dedication of the 70day season at Wash ¬ ington Park as a historic observance of Chi ¬ cagos racing centennial will take place at the Homewood course on openingday June 19 An Illinois state flag commemorating the fact that the first regular racing took place in Chicago in 1844 will be raised shortly before the start of the first race at 300 p m on that date It will be flown for the duration of the entire season seasonParticipating Participating in the flagraising will be executive director Benjamin F Lindheimer president John D Allen of the Arlington Park Jockey Club and president Walter L Gregory of the Washington Park Jockey Club ClubEspecially Especially designed gold centennial medals are to be awarded winning owners trainers and jockeys for each of Arlington Washingtons 24 stakes which will have 490000 in added money alone In addi ¬ tion there will be gold and silver cup pre ¬ sentations for the 14 events that will be factors in determining national champion ¬ ships in the various age and sex divisions divisionsMeanwhile Meanwhile racing secretary Webb Ever ¬ ett is receiving entries daily for the 5000 Beau Pere Purse sixfurlong offering that will headline the program on opening day The Beau Pere is designed as a tuneup race for the 10000 Equipoise Mile that will be renewed the first Saturday of the meeting June 24
