Hamilton Planning Ninth Consecutive Race Meet MeetNineteenDay NineteenDay Session Will Get Under Way on August 16 16HAMILTON HAMILTON Ohio May 3 A late sum ¬ mer meeting of running races again will be held at the Butler County Fair Ground here Racing will be conducted over a pe riod of 19 days starting August 16 and closing September 6 Labor Day DayIts Its the third straight year that the Ohio Sports Enterprises Inc has asked for and received the late dates from the State Rac ¬ ing Commission CommissionHowever However this year will mark the ninth consecutive time that a thoroughbred meet ¬ ing has beenjield here It is the only half mile track in the state at which an inde ¬ pendent running race meet is offered offeredFollowing Following closely after the termination of racing at nearby River Downs many stables from the Queen City course will ship here Hence president and general manager D E Cronin is anticipating no shortage of jracing stock The Hamilton track was the scene of Ohios first running race meet under the present parimutuel law in 1933 That ses ¬ sion under another banner proved a bloomer Then the track was idle except for the annual Butler County Fair early in the fall until Cronin and his organization assumed command in 1940 1940The The annual feature of the meeting here is the Hamilton Endurance Classic which at the distance of two and onesixteenth miles is the nations longest race over a halfmile oval Date for the ninth running of the classic is Saturday September 4
