Salmagundi in M7e Trial TrialGARDEN GARDEN STATE PARK Camden N J May 3 William G Helis Preakness candidate Salmagundi engaged in a private mile trial this rainy afternoon at Garden State Park and impressed witnesses by the manner in which he turned the dis ¬ tance in 144 over a very sloppy track The threeyearold is also eli ¬ gible to the local 50000 Jersey Stakes principal offering of the meeting In company of a stable pony Salmagundi was brought on the track between the running of the second and third races He was rid den by Frank Moon who jogged the colt for about four furlongs before breaking him at the finish line He covered the first quarter of a mile in 25 and then cpvered the first half mile in 51 the six furlongs in 117 and seven furlongs in 131
