Well Known Motor City Stables Returning Again AgainGrissom Grissom Sherman Shagrin and Hollenbach Units to Race There ThereDETROIT DETROIT Mich May 12 Several prom ¬ inent stables that are well known to Motor City racing patrons are to return to the Fair Grounds for the 1948 summer meeting which will get under way at the Woodward Avenue course on Saturday May 22 While a large number of thoroughbreds already are quartered at the local oval shipments from Churchill Downs and other racing centers will augment the present colony and there will be no shortage of suitable stock when the track stages its inaugural day program programGeneral General manager George W Lewis an ¬ nounced today that the following stables will be back for the forthcoming meeting Grissom Sherman trained by Harold Sherman the Mr and Mrs Milton Shag ¬ rin unit conditioned by Cornelio Mojena onetime riding star and the Louisville owned Louis J Hollenbach establishment which is handled by the veteran turfman D R McDaniel McDanielThe The Grissom Sherman thoroughbreds will come to Detroit direct from Kentucky and the string is headed by the stout handi ¬ cap performer Sun Herod Fertile Lands presently at Sportsmans Park may also be shipped here for campaigning Sun Herod recently accounted for the Luke Mc Luke Handicap at the Derby track and pre ¬ vious to that victory he accounted for several major events during his Florida stay stayWhile While Sun Herod and Fertile Lands are rated the best of the Grissom Sherman horses the outfit is rather well balanced and should garner its share of purses here Kantar Run Master Bid First Reward Chilla Queen Charsom Drum Fire Pro voker Lees Summit Trimdem Dinner Hour and Alrusha are to ship here and trainer Sherman also will bring G S Stables Neat and Tidy Charles Grissoms Bull Man P L Grissoms Sir Royce and J Paddocks Delfeb Sky Fancy Petable and Royal Roman Speedy Lee fiveyearold daughter of Count Gallahad and I Say is the star of the Shagrin string Speedy Lee won the Herod Handicap and the Charles F Price Handicap here last year and she beat some topline performers in Florida before being shipped north Gold Mike and Shagtown are betterthanaverage horses that will race here for the Shagrins ShagrinsRoi Roi Rouge victor in the 1947 running of the Boots and Saddle Handicap will head the Hollenbach stable Elderbrook Sky Train Gray Scout and Dusky Tiger are other members of the unit and McDaniel also is training Sleeper the property of Arch F Dye
