No Racing at Detroit Sept 31 7 During Fair FairDETROIT DETROIT Mich May 12 Dur ¬ ing the state fair which will run from September 3 to September 11 inclusive no horse racing will be held at the local fair grounds ac ¬ cording to an announcement by Lewis L Bredin state racing com ¬ missioner missionerIn In making the announcement Bredin said Although the Detroit Racing Association is legally entitled to continue its race meeting during the fair under its contract with the state George W Lewis president and general manager has shown a splendid spirit of cooperation with us in agreeing readily to cancel that part of his meeting because of Gov ¬ ernor Siglers wishes in the matter matterThe The regular annual meeting of the Detroit Racing Association opens on Saturday May 22 It was scheduled to continue through September 11 The meeting now will run to August 28 Whether racing will resume after the close of the fair has not been de ¬ cided Dates relinquished to avoid conflict with the fair and others available to the Detroit association could be combined as an autumn meeting opening September 11
