Bill Would lncreqsev Louisiana Racing Time Rairiold Measure Permits 90 Days of Sport in Each Parish ParishBATON ParishV V BATON ROUGE La May 28 State Senator Alexander K Rainold of New Or leans proposes to increase the maximum number of racing days permitted in each parish county in Louisiana by 15 days thus bringing the total to 90 Prior to ad ¬ journment of the Senate for the weekend Rainold introduced a measure in the upper house to amend the present law This is the only alteration offered in the proposal proposalThe The possibility of increasing the maxi ¬ mum figure had been discussed on several occasions in the past but this marks the first effort to effect a change in the law lawCurrently Currently Orleans is the only parish iri Which racing is conducted but there has been mention of racing being attempted in St Bernard and Jefferson Parishes border ¬ ing on either side of Orleans Work has been done on a half mile course in Jeff er son Parish with the hopes of developing night harness racing but after completion of the racing strip and a few barns con ¬ struction was halted According to some legislative sources Senator Rainolds proposal is not likely to encounter serious opposition from adminis tration forces as the additional racing would naturally increase revenues from this source
