Bull Dog Now Has 50 Stake Winners WinnersNoble Noble Impulse Is Latest of Get to Enter Group Noted Sires Stand at Coldstream ColdstreamLEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky June 21 Coldstream Stud is a fortunate breeding establishment in that it could breed fashionable yearlings without sending a mare to the court of an outside stallion The general excellence of their home stallions is wellknown and they all stand with full books each year When Noble Impulse won the Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park this year he be ¬ came the fiftieth stakes winner for his sire Bull Dog Bull Dog has sent three stakes winners to the races this year and oddly enough they have all been twoyearolds The speedy Mystery Lady who showed her good form in winning the Rosedale Stakes was sired by him as was Johns Joy winner of the Duncan Kenner Stakes at New Or ¬ leans leansBull Bull Dog shows signs of starting a new male line with his sons Bull Lea Eternal Bull Coldstream et al doing so well at the stud Coldstream stands at the farm where he was foaled and has been doini well in his stud career there This year he has the stakes winners Royal Blood and Ocean Drive Royal Blood was a 50000 purchase at the Keeneland summer sales two years ago and has now won himself out Ocean Drive accounted for the Hialeah Juvenile Stakes in Florida this winter and was judged the best twoyearold to show thereImported there Imported Heliopolis in 1941 1941E E E Dale Shaffer imported the sire Heliopolis to this country in 1941 after the horse had won several important stakes races in England Heliopolis was lightly raced in this country before beginning his stud duty in 1942 Since then he has sired 12 stakes winners and numerous other win ¬ ners This year he has had four stakes winners among them the good threeyear old filly Itsabet who seems destined for some sort of top filly honors at the end of this year if she continues performing as she has been doing Heliopolis has two two yearold stakes winners Imacomin and Olympia The latter raced Kentucky Colo ¬ nel to a track record deadheat at Chicago this summer Both Imacomin and Itsabet are owned by Harry Isaacs the Maryland sportsman who raced Brookfield so suc ¬ cessfully cessfullyReaping Reaping Reward completes the crop of Coldstream stallions with more than one crop to race He was an honest race horse and among his triumphs were the United States Hotel Stakes the New England Fu ¬ turity the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes and was also third in the Kentucky Derby Reaping Reward entered the stud in 1940 and has since sired 10 stakes winners He has four stakes winners this year May Re ¬ ward Eternal Reward Star Reward and Fertile Lands LandsOccupation Occupation the Futurity King also stands at Coldstream but his first crop is racing this year and so it is difficult to say what he will do at the stud However all indications arethat he will have suc ¬ cess at the stud for he was a very fast horse and his twoyearolds this year seem to be inheriting this trait Ol Skipper is the best of his get to appear this year and his connections regard him highly He ran third to Ky Colonel and Olympia in their deadheat and then came back in his next outing and equaled their track record recordBull Bull Dog Heliopolis and Reaping Reward are all well represented in Coldstreams sale of selected yearlings this year Among the most soughtafter yearlings will be a colt by Bull Dog from the race mare Farmerette who is the dam of Miss Mommy Another likely to occasion spirited bidding will be Royal Bloods half brother by Heliopolis and still another yearling prospect is the half brother to the filly Radio Time by Reaping Reward RewardLast Last year Coldstream Stud had the dis ¬ tinction of having the highest average of the consignors with 10 or more yearlings in the sale With the excellent group that they are offering this year they have a chance to equal and perhaps to surpass their average price of last summer
