Tex Wheeler to Do LifeSized Statue of Late George Woolf WoolfLOS LOS ANGELES Calif June 25 Hugh lette Tex Wheeler famous cowboy sculp ¬ tor has been selected by the California turf writers to do the lifesized bronze statue of the late great jockey George Woolf which will serve as American racings me ¬ morial and tribute Wheelers many nota ¬ ble works include those of the beloved humorist Will Rogers and the illustrious horse Seabiscuit alongside which the Woolf statue will be placed in the Santa Anita paddock at a public dedication early next season seasonWheeler Wheeler now in Kissimme Fla finish ¬ ing commissions is to start immediate work on the Woolf statue A studio is to be fitted up for him at Santa Anita Park where he will contact horsemen and friends of the great rider so that a perfect likeness with racing tack will be modeled modeledIn In the meanwhile the turf writers are continuing the campaign to raise around 10000 necessary to erect the memorial through voluntary contributions from rac ¬ ing fans all over the country These con ¬ tributions limited to 1 per individual are being mailed to the Woolf Memorial Fund Arcadia Calif
