USGA Develops New Rough Miracle Fairway Grass GrassNEW NEW YORK N Y May 5 UP The U S Golf Association revealed today its turf specialists have developed a new miracle fairway grass so tough the average golfer cant hack a divot out of it itEven Even ifhe does manage to cut up a piece of fairway he can walk right on and forget about replacing the turf said Dr Fred V Grau of Beltsville Md director of the USGAs green section sectionThe The new combination turf grows better if the divot is not replaced replacedFurthermore Furthermore he said the new turf grows in almost any section of the nation re ¬ quires little water plays the same whether it is dry or soaked by rain and resists plant disease diseaseIts Its the fairway of the future said Grau We have proved it in experimental plots at Beltsville and only last week planted a fairway at Fairfax Va But it may be at least five years before we have enough seed for general use
