l * i r c t t r f » J s a Keene, Madden and DeSpirito To Ride at Narraganserr Park PAWTUCKET, R. I., June 26.— Headed by Harold "Red" Keene, of Lowell, rider of more winners this season than any other jockey in the country, the greatest array of riding talent seen on a New England track in many years will be in action at Narragansett Parks 24-day summer meeting which opens on Monday, June 30. A top rider in New England and other racing sectors for many seasons, Keene became the leader at Suffolk Downs early in the meeting and while engaged in a spirited battle with Darrell Madden, the Lowell booter went to the front among the jockeys throughout the country. Madden and Anthony DeSpirito, an apprentice who has been riding sensationally at Suffolk Downs, will both come to Narragansett Park where the keen competition for jockey honors will continue. DeSpirito moved into second place at Suffolk while Madden was serving a 10-day suspension. Three Cuban riders and a Chilean will add international flavor to the riding colony. The Cubans are Emilio Rodriguez, Roberto Gonzalez and Armando F. Martinez. The Chilean is Jorge Contreras, a prodigy of Ruperto Donoso who rode to Jame on New England tracks a few seasons ago.
