The latter raced NINE GEES into defeat to gain a clear advantage in the early stretch, then just failed to last. HAYWORTHY held a favorable position, but lacked sufficient response. DUN WAITINS rally was ineffective. KINGDIMENT closed consid erable ground from the outside. POURQUOI was outrun. LOVELY LOCUST flattened out badly. NINE GEES flattened out badly through the stretch. PREPARED, unhurried while following the early pace, was nicely handled while being roused and outfinished JAZERANT. The latter set the tarly pace, was displaced briefly in the early stretch, regained command and just missed. THIRD ACE gave way after assuming command nearing the furlong pole. JUNGLE WIND faltered in the final test after racing prominently SEVEN LEAGUE lacked a menacing rally. TRINGLE ROCK could not keep up. MARENGO quit BATTLE ROYAL WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED WHEN SORE GOING POSTWARD. BACK FIRE was always prominent, joined the leader from the outside nearing the stretch, was in hand while lugging in during the drive and still was able to outfinish WHITE RAGE. The latter raced BUSY DREAM into defeat but could not resist the winner. Tingleys claim of foul against the winner for alleged stretch interference was disallowed. BUSY DREAM gave way badly in the final quarter. ANOTHER NIP lacked a rally. SASSY CHICK raced forwardly and quit. TRIM BULL was too sore to stride freely.
