Jack P Meyers Appointed Racing Secretaryat Pomona PomonaPOMONA POMONA Calif June 11 Jack P Meyers 37yearold racing official from Arcadia today was appointed to the posi ¬ tion of racing secretary for the Los Angeles County Fair meeting September 18 through October 3 He succeeds Herman Sharpe who resigned his duties here to accept a similar job at Las Vegas Announcement of the appointment was made by C B Jack Afflebaugh presidentmanager of the fair fairMeyers Meyers has been on the official staffs of Santa Anita Hollywood Park Del Mar Tanforan and Pomona since racing came back to California in 1934 aside from three years spent with the U S marines over seas during World War II He has filled the posts of assistant racing secretary clerk of the scales patrol judge and plac ¬ ing judge judgeAnnouncement Announcement of the fairs racing pro ¬ gram wfll be made to horsemen within the next month Meyers said today It is planned to retain the tracks two outstand ¬ ing stakes events the 10000 added South ¬ ern California Mandicap and the 10000 added Governors Handicap he disclosed
