Devil Free Takes Elyria Under Barbers Good Ride RideGains Gains TwoLength Decision Over Bob o Nick at C ran wood Park ParkByRONALD ByRONALD KRANCER KRANCERStaff Staff Correspondent CorrespondentCRANWOOD CRANWOOD PARK Warrensville Heights Ohio June 11 E R Morris Devil Free given a hustling ride by the veteran Ralph L Barber scored a twolength deci ¬ sion over Bob o Nick in the featured Elyria Purse here this afternoon The winner was neglected in the wagering and returned a handsome 4260 in running the six and onehalf furlongs in 123 which is a new track record for that distance A crowd of about 3600 was on hand for the sport this afternoon which was conducted in delight ¬ ful weather Through the seventh race form held up rather well with three fa ¬ vorites having won wonDevil Devil Free broke third when starter Bill Schamerhorn pressed the button It was Sydney H that showed the most early speed and a sthe horses raced past the stands on their first trip around he was in front by two lengths He maintained that advantage while on the clubhouse turn with Golden Grip in second position and Cheriful third The eventual winner was fourth some four lengths in arrears arrearsRacing Racing into the far turn Barber started his well timed move and drove the Free For All filly up on the outside of horses to gain the lead by a length over Sydney H and Cheriful Through the stretch with Barber whip ¬ ping and slashing Devil Free drew clear by two lengths while in the middle of the race track It was the first victory of the Rea ¬ son for Devil Free in eight starts startsLouie Louie Lamms Ray Star clipped a full second off the track record for six furlongs when he reeled off that distance in 116 flat in the fifth race under a good ride by jockey Jimmy Baird The winner was a length and onequarter clear of Junket who in turn was three parts of a length before oCnewago
