Kentucky Colonels Ordei Holds Annual Banquet BanquetGov Gov Chandler Guest of Horpr Distribute 23360 to Charity CharityCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky May 4 The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels held their 24th annual banquet last night at the Kentucky Hotel a ban ¬ quet that was laden with pomp ceremony tuxedos or tails for the colonels and their guests furs and glittering jewels for their ladies ladiesGeorge George Jessel toastmaster general of the United States kept the meeting lively and needless to say witty He introduced the guest of honor Gov A B Happy Chand ¬ ler as a man who some day may hold the highest office in the land The Gov ¬ ernor was given a standing ovation Thomas B Stanley governor of Virginia was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel along with several others othersEntertainment Entertainment included the traditional julep parade paradeIt It was announced by the Colonels a charitable organization that 23360 had been contributed by members during the last year to its welfare fund and this money was distributed by presentation of checks during appropriate ceremonies to such organizations as the Kentucky Society for Crippled Children Childrens Hospital Kosair Crippled Children Hospital Uni ¬ versity of Louisville School of Medicine the Crusade for Children and others OSCAR OTIS
