New York 1 By Bob Norwood Excellent Sport in Prospect at Belmont Park Bold Ruler May Go In Toboggan Handicap Withers Mile Likely to Draw Large JField JFieldAMAICA AMAICA L I N Y May 8 Clubhouse patrons are going to find a longstanding grievance removed when thev inspect their quarters at Belmont Park on Monday The spacious and utterly deserted section for many years reserved for the Turf and Field Club has been reduced to an area considerably more commensurate with the attendance by the mem ¬ bers The entire Turf and Field box section has now become part of the clubhouse while the iron railing that formerly separated the crowded clubhouse section from the empty reaches of the elite has been removed The sec ¬ tion now reserved for the club consists of the entire upper floor level and 10 rows of theater seats extend ¬ ing from the end of the stand back for a bit more than half of the former Turf and Field section A bar for the exclusive use of the Turf and Field Club has been installed adjoining the elevator This is the only change made in the huge stand and it is a welcome one for there is no doubt that the sight of that large empty area rankled clubhouse patrons almost as much as los ¬ ing on a disqualification Perhaps in some future year a dining room with a view of the track can be con ¬ structed in this space as has been suggested count ¬ less times but the chances are slim Plans for the new Aqueduct you know dont include such a dining room though such facilities are an exceedingly popular ad ¬ junct of most modern race tracks tracksMr Mr Fitz Reserves Decision DecisionExcellent Excellent sport is inprospect from the start of the invariably brilliant meeting at beautiful Belmont There is a very definite possibility that Bold Rulei will be seen in the Togoggan on Saturday Mr Fitz has had the Wheatley Stable champion breezing for several weeks and is more than merely toying with the idea of starting him in the 6 furlongs dash on the Widener straightaway The big son of Nasrullah may have all he can handle in Maurice Newtons vastly improved Egotistical Mondays Withers Mile is expected to at ¬ tract a large field of threeyearolds who passed of the year when he dropped 7500 in the box to take June W from P H B Fre linghuysen on Tuesday The threeyearold miss who has raced for as little as 4000 has finished in the money in all but one of her 16 starts while winning seven A daughter of Bully Boy from WellFixedjjy Omission June W might be a better broodmare pros ¬ pect than appears at first glance Bully Boy who is standing for a 250 fee Paul Mellon Eleven of the youngsters are now quartered at Belmont Park and Skinner who has long been known to horse ¬ men as an exceedingly capable teacher radiates his satisfaction witU the group thus far I havent really borne down with any of them yet but theyre all healthy and have good bone and substance and are going along soundly so far he tells us Seven of the Mellon juveniles were
