Fast and Safe Strip WATERFORD PARK Chester W Va May 8 Work is progressing rapidly on a general overhauling of the Waterford Park running strip to make it both safe and fast for thoroughbred travel The primary rea ¬ son for the grading and removal of an upper crust of topsoil from the course is to provide a cushion and bounce that will lessen the possibility of horses pulling up sore or choppy after a race Everett Wil ¬ son track superintendent at Monmouth Park visited the course for several days to assist Waterford Parks superintendent Tommy Smith in getting the strip ready for the June 4 inaugural
