J. C. CORE WINS THE SENECA ZIENAP BEATS CLARE RUSSELL A HEAD IN THE MILE HANDICAP. Mark Antony II. Is Disqualified Rocket Takes the Steeplechase Miss Delaney Earns Her First Brackets. Saratoga, N. Y., August 22. Through the disqualification of Mark Antony II. in the opening race here today, half the rani went to outstanding first elyiiees. Mark Antony II., which had been well hacked in certain quarters, went to the front shortly after the start and tried to make a runaway race of it, hut at the end of the first six furlongs he was tiring rapidly and Swnin went to the whip in an effort to keep him up long enough to stall off the fast coming Sir Toddington. This caused Youngs colt to swerve to the outside and he bolted info Sir Toddington, knocking him back and beating him to the finish by a length. The stewards promptly disqualified Mark Antony II., giving first to Sir Toddington, second to Security and third to Bast End. Rocket, Garrett and Sandalwood were the only starters in the steeplechase. Sandalwood fell early in the race and Garrett, after fencing in slovenly fashion, struck the last obstacle and went down. Rocket went on aitd won at his leisure. Ray remounted Garrett and finished within the time limit, getting second money. Miller.. 1,895 1:145 As a contest the handicap at a mile, with its three starters Zlenap, Clare Russell, and Sea Wall overshad6wed the fixture. Clare Russell was the favorite, but after she had raced head and head with Zienap for the last three-quarters of the journey she took a tired swerve at the very end and it cost her the race. Zlenap was in the worst going, but gamely held her lead in the long closing drive. Sea Wall was never a factor after going the first half mile. Martha .Tane scored a head victory over Thomas Calhoun in the two-year-old selling race and the heavily backed Miss Delaney, a trim looking miss by Plaudit, got out of the maiden ranks by taking the measure of C. .7. Cella in the closing race.
